How to fit high-cap LiPo batt into DIB

The standard height allocated for the battery is a bit tight for today high-cap lipo battery (>6000mah). However, there is a simple fix to this issue.

Just putting 1mm or more shims under the upper deck (circled in Yellow) would provide a simple solution to this issue. The upper deck design in DIB is "independent".

Yokomo has updated the part list page on their website.

The interesting items are:
IB-GC1 and IB-GC2. These are labelled as Upgrade Kit 1 and Upgrade Kit 2. However, no further details are being offered. We are looking forward to receiving more information.

It also seems that the composite bulkheads can be easily replaced with DRB ones.

Masami in GT500 race in Japan

Masami has partcipated in a recent GT500 race. Some pictures taken from Team Yokomo website.

It was held in the city of Koriyama. Results of the qualifying is as follows:

7.503 5 Hiroyuki Usui.

Masami continue to win the race. But because it is a race that he organized, he has opted out of contention. But no doubt, it was a great fun to see the LEGEND racing again.

Team Yokomo has announced the follwoing information relating to the release of DIB.

It is scheduled to be released at end of February. We expected to receive the first shipment beginning March.

It is listed as JPY42,800. ( estimates ~ US$550.00 / RM1700.00) It is priced between the Drift Package Plus Type-C and DRB. The final price for local market would be confirmed later.

It is extremely slim in the chassis design as more weight is centered around the middle.

Same low CG design like the DRB.

Great drifting steering angle.

Slight revision of the transmission design. Notice the new composite upper supporter and bulkhead.

Standard LiPo pack is placed in the center of the chassis, giving it perfect left/right balance.

It is designed to fit smaller, and lighter, batteries. It enables fine tuning to weight distribution of DRB to achieve a different drifting characteristic.

Tires:
Controlled tires will be used for each Category.
One free set of tires will be included in the entry fee; participants can purchase one extra set in each category, allowing drivers to use up to 2 sets of tires per category during the event.

Batteries:
Due mainly to the safety issues of travelling with Li-Po batteries, all participants will use only the Li-Po rental batteries provided.
Each participant can use 2 batteries in each category. IMPORTANT: You may not use your own batteries during this event.

There will be more on this to follow as we receive the information from the various tire and battery providers.

IMPORTANT: Please do not attempt air travel with Li-Po batteries, as this has become a recognised problem world-wide with many airlines.
We have to be proactive and do what we can to be responsible air travellers where we can, THANK YOU.

To follow will be a full report including entry details, accommodation, transport, transfers, etc and of course the rules.

Yokomo Drift Meeting Special Round @ Yatabe Arena

Team Yokomo Japan has announced a special round of Drift Meeting to be held on 17th and 18th December 2011 @ Yatabe Arena. It is the World Championship for R/C drift.

International drifters can sign up for the World Class. The rules are as follows:

●WORLD class regulations
1) Chassis
Drift Package, Drift Racer(preassembled kit), or Yokomo 1/10 touring chassis only. Optional parts must be Yokomo or Yokomo approved brands.

2) Motor
Yokomo drift motor D1SPN(19T), D1SP(19T), D1R(27T), Yokomo ZERO brushless motor(above 10.5T) only. If using a brushless motor, either a Yokomo or Nosram speed controller must be used.

3) Battery
Yokomo stick packs(LiPo included) or Nickel-cell packs with Yokomo shrink wrap must be used. Yokomo matched batteries are allowed. However, other brand matched packs using Yokomo cells are not allowed.
Caution) Other brand cells with Yokomo ZAP2 stickers are not allowed. Participants who do not possess the allowed batteries or motors will not be allowed to participate.

4) Body shell
Only body shells sold specifically for the Yokomo 1/10th scale Drift Package are allowed.
Yokomo body shells with hand-made plastic parts, parts made from Yokomo bodies(of the same or other model), or parts made from molded putty are allowed, but any part made from another brand body or aero part, or original hand-made body shells are not allowed.
Wings, wing stays, mirrors, mufflers (that are not part of the body) must be either Yokomo or a Yokomo approved brand product.
Modified standard kit parts by either Yokomo or a Yokomo approved brand are allowed, but use of parts from non-approved brands or hand-made original parts are not allowed. Additionally, double stacked wings, or polycarbonate wings for competition touring car or off-road cars, whether Yokomo or not, are not allowed.
However in regards to electronic lighting, other brands or hand-made original parts are allowed.

5) Chassis
Overall length must be 50cm or shorter (body included). Overall width must be 22cm or less. Wheelbase must be 27cm or less.

6) Tires
ENTRY and SPORT classes must use Yokomo Drift Zero One R(ZR-DR02), Zero One RS(ZR-DR02S), Zero One R2(ZR-DR04) tires. TWIN DORI and WORLD classes must use Zero One R2(ZR-DR04) tires only. Modifications are not allowed. Please mount the tires so that the ‘YOKOMO PAT.P.’ lettering faces the outside. Mounting the tires in the opposite direction is not allowed.

7) Wheel
Only Yokomo Drift wheels allowed. Non-Yokomo wheels may not be used, but modification of Yokomo drift wheels is allowed.

8) Other
Drift assist systems, gyros, or any other electronic device providing automatic counter steering aid is not allowed.

The new 2wd buggy is seen at the Tokyo Hobby Show which is being held over this weekend.

The price announced is priced at ~~JPY 26,040~~ JPY 24,800 List, which is a very competitive pricing against the competition.
